Who we are
Procyon Business Logic LLC is a software company in Portland, Oregon, USA.
We are the "data controller" for this site and for any sites for our products. This means that we determine how your information is used; don't worry though, this page tells you exactly how we use it.
Our commitments
"We support the customer, and their data is their own." This is the core of how we run our business. Here's what that means in plain language.
- We will never try to profit from your data. No advertising, no tracking, and no data sales ever.
- We collect as little as we possibly can. Anything we collect, it's because we have a reason to. Everything we collect, has an end date.
- Your data belongs to you. Our sites and products allow self-service data downloads. Get an archive of your data when you want it.
- Everything is deletable. You just need to let us know, and we'll delete your data immediately from our live systems; it leaves our backups within 14 days. (Tax records excluded. We cannot remove what the law makes us keep.)
- Zero surprises. It's all right here, everything you need is listed below. Material changes to this policy get at least 30 days' notice in our apps or in your email if you are a client.
What we collect, and why
Account information. If you receive a login for this website, you obtain a username, name, email address, and then get to set a password (stored securely - we cannot read it). We collect this information because it is required to give you a working login into this website. (Legal Basis - contract.)
Files and work. We allow you to store files on this website and we may upload work products for you as needed based on your contract with us. These files and this upload functionality are the service that we provide to you. (Legal Basis - contract.)
Contracts and billing. Billing and tax law requires us to create and store contracts, time entries, expenses, invoices, payments, receipts, and your billing contact information. We collect and generate this information because we have a contractual obligation to you and a legal obligation. (Legal Basis - contract.)
Messages and questionnaires. If you contact us, or we contact you through your account on this site, this will generate messages. Questionnaires may also be sent if we need to ask you questions about your contracts. Completed questionnaires become frozen documents in your files. You can read them at any time. This information is collected and generated to facilitate work on your behalf, based on our contract with you if you are a customer. (Legal Basis - contract.)
Contact form and invoice questions. If you use our contact form to ask questions about invoicing or to communicate with us on this site, this will create a record with name, email, your message, and your IP address. The IP address is used to rate-limit abuse and assist us in understanding the issue, if someone floods the contact us form with spam. (Legal Basis - legitimate interest.)
Server logs (access and error). We log IP addresses, time, and pages requested when our servers are accessed. This is done to prevent abuse and to ensure the security of your information and this site. (Legal Basis - legitimate interest.)
Cookies. There are two cookies used on this site and both are strictly necessary. A session cookie is required to keep you logged in and ensure the security of your login session. A CSRF cookie is required to protect the security of any data that you have entered into forms on the site. We do not use and will not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or other third party cookies.
What we never collect: advertising identification, location tracking, social media pixels, digital fingerprinting, or analytics. Every script and asset on this site is served boringly from our own server.
Where your data lives
The servers are in France (European Union), operated by OVH Groupe SA. We send our emails from a mail server on the same host. We are a United States company, so we may access your information from the United States to run the service. We do not route your data anywhere else. Our apps involve Apple and RevenueCat — see "Mobile apps" below.
How long we keep it

Email we send
- One daily digest is sent if you have any unseen activity waiting for you in your account on this site. If there is nothing outstanding, there will be no email. If you do not want a daily digest, you can easily disable it in your account.
- A single notification email is sent if a new invoice or important document is added for your organization.
- A password reset email is sent only when you ask for one.
- Replies may be sent to you if you reach out to us on this website.
We do NOT send marketing emails, and we do not have any newsletters that we send. There is no mailing list to unsubscribe from.
Your rights (including in the EU and UK)
You can get a copy of your data (most of it can be downloaded from your portal if you have an account; you can ask us for a full archive); correct it; have it deleted; restrict or withdraw our use of your data; and, wherever we rely on consent, withdraw it.
To exercise any right, email management@procyonlogic.com. We'll answer you within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not make you jump through any hoops.
If you are in the EU or UK, you have a right to send a complaint about us to your local data protection authority. However, we would really rather fix it first, so please write to us.
We do not use any automated decision making systems and we do not do any user profiling. You will interact with a human when you reach out to us.
Children
This site and our products are not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Accounts are created by us, on request, for business clients. There is no public sign up form.
Mobile apps
Outside parties. Purchases and subscriptions in our apps are processed by Apple and go through your Apple ID. Receipts for apps with subscriptions are processed by RevenueCat, which receives your purchase receipt but does not have access to your app's content or your data. If an app crashes, then Apple's crash reporting may send Apple a report, which would be sent to us to help us to improve the app.
Your work in apps. Our apps may store your data in your own iCloud account, which follows Apple's terms of service. Our servers do not have access to your iCloud account. Specific details will be found in this section for apps that have launched.
Wrist News Reader has been discontinued and is no longer sold. It did not and does not (if you still have a copy) transmit any data to us - your data was stored entirely on your device. Your subscriptions were processed through Apple, and receipts were processed for us by RevenueCat.
Changes to this policy
Material changes get at least 30 days' notice on this page, and by email if you have a login on this site with an email address or otherwise are a customer of ours. The date at the top changes with every edit.
